Evaluation in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Studies
The purpose of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge in research and evaluation within the park, recreation and tourism field. Specific focus is placed on applying research and evaluation concepts through a research or evaluation project within the field. Topics include evaluation criteria development, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and utilizing study results to make practical recommendations for park, recreation, and tourism organizations. This is a writing intensive course.
Original Survey
Hadley and her partner, Katherine Guevara, created this survey for the Norfolk Society for Cemetery Conservation (NSCC) for their annual "From Here to Eternity 5K". They met with the President of the NSCC to determine what feedback the organization was specifically looking for. From there, Katherine attended the event in person to collect responses while Hadley monitored the online responses. They then compiled the data to complete the finalreport.
Evaluation Final Report
Hadley and Katherine wrote their own final reports and submitted them to the professor. From there, Dr. Usher selected one report to make small revisions and then send to the NSCC. Hadley's final report was selected to be submitted to the organization.
